SUNDAY STASH: Sock yarn
Tamara over at 1/4 of an inch is still on summer hiatus but I'm trying to stick to my blogging schedule so here goes. Happy Sunday Stashing everybody.

Early in the New Year I was naughty in the Morris and Sons 5% sale and picked up this lovely yarn to make ... guess what?

Socks ... of course!

This is absolutely my favourite colour combination ... Jigsaw 4 ply 75% wool/25% nylon approx 420 metres.

Now why would I be buying even more sock yarn when I'm lucky to have time to scratch myself at the moment and hardly have time to make the cushions I've planned for my niece?

Smack me now! LOL (I hope Clarissa's not looking ... the last time I said bite me ... she did!)

But don't I have great sock yarn?

Good things Sun 10 Jan 10

GOOD THINGS: Felt flowers
It's been way too long since I got any crafting done but today I actually sat down and started playing with the felt flowers I purchased in early December from Pompom Rouge. (PS Check out the store. It's really cute.)

The flowers ... and the flower centres.

My idea is to make a simple calico cushion cover and use the flowers and circles in a centre pattern around my niece's initial (which is obviously T).

What I came up with before I packed it all away ... the cardboard T isn't permanent. I still have to come up with a fabric or other alternative.

The colours go with the almost finished cross stitched cushion cover I'm currently working on and the scrapbooking picture I gave to her for Christmas.

The two cushions will make a great birthday gift for May ... and it's so nice to get such an early start.

SUNDAY STASH: Cross stitch hearts
Despite Sunday Stash at ¼ of an inch being on summer break until late January I thought I’d continue the fun and share something creative—and non-Christmas related—that’s really exciting me at the moment.

My latest cross stitch project.

The colours of the cross stitch looks brighter than the paper in the paper but not in real life.

This came about because of a walk last Sunday to the storage unit to pick up a few Christmas items to take to work with me.

But while I was there it was like Christmas as I dug through boxes to see what was inside, until I hit the cross stitch box and then I was mesmerised.

Mesmerised by the threads and this item; a set of hearts in squares in various colours that should have been made into a cushion a long time ago.

Back in the day I loved cross stitch in patterns that more closely resembled tapestry, and this is one of the patterns I devised.

Since that’s not happened in the last five years it’s obviously not going to happen anytime soon … but it got me thinking about Tamika’s Christmas present and something I could make for her birthday in May that would ‘go’ with her picture.

And a cushion with the heart pattern in the colours in the picture with a pink cord around the edge sounds really cute … and achievable.

SUNDAY STASH: Painting stuff
It's Sunday again and time to play Sunday Stash.

For me, it's getting way too close to Christmas now for crafting ... there's too much to do with the shopping and the planning and the everything to be doing much by way of crafting projects.

So for this week I thought I'd put out there the one thing I wish I was doing ... even though it's more a home DIY project than a craft.

All ready to go ... all I need is some time.

I am itching to paint the white tatty chest of drawers that sits in our lounge ... well, white.

It looks so dowdy and dull it wouldn't even qualify as shabby chic even with some serious distressing.

Roll on the Christmas break and some sunny weather.

Lots more Sunday Stash goodness over at 1/4 of an inch . Check them out.

SUNDAY STASH
Yippee, it's share time again over at 1/4 of an inch with Sunday stash. it's so much fun going through my stuff ... my paints especially get an airing every week.

And this week I'm following on from last week's theme of chipboard alphabets with my stash of paint.

The boxes that store my collection of ...

My favourite paints are my collection of Making Memories paints with names like Eggplant, Strawberries and Cream, Banana and Kiwi ... I always think the bottles and their contents look good enough to eat.

My Making Memories paints ... I love the soft, avocado looking greens.

By far the largest number of colours I have are the really cheap range of Semco acrylic paints stocked by Bunnings ... or my local Bunnings did until I visited last week. I need to look for a new stockist for my favourite colours.

My Semco paints ... my favourite is a beautiful, soft cream called bisque.

And the odds and sods of Jo Sonja and general acrylic paints ... the purple ones blong to Clarissa. Purple's an especial favourite of hers.

The odds and sods of paint.

Thank for looking ... I love my paints and they get an airing practically every week.

SUNDAY STASH: CHIPBOARD ALPHABETS
I love Sunday stash run by Tamara at quarter of an inch ... and I thought I'd shared my stash of chipboard alphabets.

Just a few of the alphabets.

I love alphabets, especially the unpainted ones. I love uppercase alphabets especially ... ones with square edges in particular.

I use them all the time ... the same sort over and over again, and I don't mind seeing the same alphabet because they always seems to look different once they're painted.

A couple of my layouts using the alphabets.

And a few more layouts.

My absolute favourite is a small uppercase alphabet, by the Perth company Collections ... I wouldn't be without it.

SUNDAY STASH: DVDs
Tamara at quarter of an inch is running Sunday Stash time and I thought I would play each week.

And for my first week my amazing stash of DVDs.

It's a pretty eclectic collection from science fiction to romance.

I know they're not exactly crafty ... but I promise you they are absolutely linked ... because one of these will always be on as I knit, scrapbook or paint.
There are quite a few I've never actually "watched" because my head is always down focussed on whatever I'm doing.

I admit to having a certain fondness for the Hornblower series and I love anything with Audrey Hepburn in it (War and Peace).

What you can see is less than half of them: they're stacked two deep on the bookshelf and on top of each other and there's another huge stash at my mother's waiting for me to pick them up at Christmas.

I'm absolutely no fan of regular programming on TV and we almost never go to the movies ... give me a period drama or science fiction every time: Pride and Prejudice, Underworld, Blade, Sharpe, Vanity Fair, Band of Brothers, Rome, Deadwood, Lorna Doone, Stargate. I don't mind (except for Keira Knightly as Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice) which version and I don't mind how many times I watch them.
