My Creative Space

I wasn't going to bother with My Creative Space this week ... I feel so blah and I’m working on another version of the same simple purple scarf, this time for Miss C. Pretty, but it's so boring to sharing the same thing every week.

So I'm going to cheat and show another project I put down a couple of weeks ago ... cross stitch hearts I plan to use for a matching pincushion and sewing roll.

On a much happier note I’m so thrilled with another creative space I have a vested interest in … Cam from CurlyPops to be precise.

A few weeks ago I passed along some Ink & Spindle fabric I bought on the Sew It Together bus tour with a request to make a camera bag that I can use for the camera when it’s wearing its flash … which it usually is.

Check out Cam’s creative space for the “oh so wonderful so far” results (and here’s Cam's photo repeated here because I’m so excited I have to have a copy too!).

It’s looking amazing. I love the black denim Cam had to hand with the Ink & Spindle fabric. The black will set it off so nicely and be such a nice contrast ... and to give it a little extra pop some black will show on the outside.

Now ... I have to wait a week until I get the bag. I know it's a week but I feel worse than a kid at Christmas. I really can’t wait.

Thanks Cam for doing such a great job and for your wonderful ideas along the way.

HELP WITH NEW PHONE
I'm looking for a new phone and my shopping list is long: a big screen, a good camera (so I don't have to pay for a camera and phone and carry both around with me) and somewhere to store all those names, addresses and birthdates we all collect ... oh, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg of course!

But seriously ... I'm desperately looking for ideas. Do you have a camera you absolutely love or even one on your wishlist? Why do you love it? Does it have something special you've never seen anywhere else or does it just float your boat? LOL

And my selection so far?

LG KC910 Renoir.

My rating: I seriously like this phone. The camera is impressive although a review I found suggests using it via the touch screen is a negative.

Specifications: 8mp camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics (including ISO settings up to 1600), 3 in screen, touch screen only, dolby audio, no 3.5mm headphone jack, DIVx, video, video recording, GPS (Google), wi fi, widgets, 107.8x55.9x13.95, 114g weight, touch screen, 70Mb inbuilt memory, external up to SD 8Gb.

Samsung M8910 Pixon 12.

My review: I love the look and touch screen although apparently it’s a resistive screen that takes a lot of pressing.

Specifications: The world's first 12mp camera, 5x digital zoom, weight 119g, dimensions 107.9x53x13.8, video recording, no Xenon flash, FM radio, wi fi, external memory, touch screen, 10MB built in storage, SD memory card, no 3.5mm headphone jack.

Sony Ericsson C905

My rating: This baby looks so good and I'm seriously leaning towards it!

Specs: 8.1 mp Cybershot camera, 104x49x19.5mm, 136 gms, GPS (Google), wi fi, 160MB internal, Xenon flash, 2GB storage included but supports up to 8GB, blog link, fm radio, media player.

Nokia N86

My review: The camera (completely ignoring even including a 20x digital zoom) is hard to ignore although it’s a little more expensive than the others I’ve been looking at.

Specifications: 8 mp camera with Carl Zeiss optics (20x digital zoom ... and what that would do to an 8mp shot is anybody's guess!), no Xenon flash, variable aperture to F2.4, wide angle lens, shutter speed to 1/1000 second, wide angle, GPS (Nokia maps), video, sharing and internet, music (FM and Nokia internet radio), 2.6" screen, internal memory 8Gb, external SD memory 16 Gb.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
I left the house without my camera today ... I don't know where my head was?

And it was the best day we've had for a long time.

We spent a perfect morning at the Northcote Maker's Market (in Northcote!).

Details of the next market ... all the way in February.

I loved all the handmade goodness there ... the fab brooches by Curlypops, although I didn't get the chance to see her because she was in Daylesford at the market there.

The gorgeous handbags, clothing, hats ... but no photos to share!

But I can share what we bought there which I absolutely loved.

How cute are these? Notepads with the covers made from the illustrations from old books ... what a great use for these. And how jealous are the ladies at the Jane Austen society going to be when I show my new Pride and Prejudice notebook ... cutting up this version definitely isn't desecration of a great novel!

I love the P&P notebook ... so fitting for me.

And what about this wonderful box? I bought

The new box sitting on the shelves next to computer.

Our remotes safely inside ...where we can find them.

I bought it for my sister Debbie for her Kris Kringle but I can't bear to part with it ... now it's sitting on the coffee table between the computer desk and the sofa as the new home for all our remotes. I love it, and I'm just going to have to shop for something else for Debbie ... sorry Debs!

Our next stop was the Hello Sailor secondhand at the Grace Darling Hotel in Smith Street, Collingwood.

But we didn't stay long. There were too many people and too few stalls ... and because Lost and Found was only a few streets away we wandered up there so I could share the best second hand store in Melbourne with Horace.

But no photos!

No photos of how amazing Lost and Found is. No photos of the amazing furniture, the clothing, the records ... and the little blue leather 50s handbag I nearly bought for less than $20.

The postcard I picked up at Lost and Found.

All I have are the bits and pieces of paper I picked up and a link to the last time I went! So not good enough!

And then we spent the rest of the day with Anna and Demos in Abbotsford.

Visiting was a whim really, and the hope they were in ... thankfully they were.

We ate the most wonderful dinner of baked barramundi and chilli mussels. We chatted forever about what we'd been up to, our holiday, their wonderful vegetable garden, caught up with their friends Mary and Con ... and were so glad we hadn't waited ten years before dropping in to see them.

But no photos ....
