Vintage Sheet FQ Giveaway

I’ve mulled over hosting a giveaway for so long … and what’s stopped me is not knowing what to give away.

But it became really obvious as I put away my vintage sheets and FQs that I can quilt until I’m 80 and still not use them all.

After that it was easy … some of the FQs on offer are from the delicious stash I scored from the Ange’s Ramblings vintage sheet swap. Others are left overs from the FQs I sent into the swap. I’ve tried to divide them into vaguely co-ordinating piles based on colour or florals or patterns, and here they are for drooling.

So, how will it work?

The goodies? 5 sets of ten vintage sheet fat quarters each (5 lucky winners)
Closes? 11:59 pm EST Australia Saturday 14 August 2010
Who can enter? Anybody and everybody, anywhere in the world
How do you enter?
1. 1 entry: Leave a comment on this post about whether you’ve made something with vintage sheets.
2. 1 entry: Become a follower, and leave a comment on this post letting me know.
3. 1 entry: Spread the word on your blog and leave a comment on this post including a link to your website.
Winners announced? On my blog on Monday 16 August 2010.

Housekeeping:
1. Leave one comment or separate comments for each … I’m not fussed.
2. Make sure I can contact you eg an email address such as marybrown(at)hotmail.com or via your ID. I will redraw if I can’t contact you by email.

Good luck everybody.

I think it is great you blogged about your results from the swap. I haven't gotten there yet because the lighting here is bad with all the rain. I've used sheets as linings in bags and also on the outside of folders. A friend has made a dress from a brand new one. It looks incredible and you know there is little chance of someone ever having the same vintage fabric as most sheets have wear marks. Cherrie

I'm not supposed to be adding to the stash but I can't resist vintage sheets!
I've made lots of things with them previously - I really like to use them as bag linings as they're usually nice and soft. They also make great apron straps and binding.

After admiring your vintage sheet finding prowess for so long, I'm excited to get the chance to have some! Haven't made anything yet - so far planning a basic bag and then some toys maybe?

just yesterday I rescued a heap of sheets from a box in the shed and felt so glad we kept them! I'm now going to explore ways to use them! Such possibilities!

I've only just discovered quilting - but I'm a long-time rescuer of vintage textiles in all shapes and forms. Right now I'm even wrapped in a vintage quilt that my gran gave to me as a child..

Oooh I've been looking for some lovely vintage sheets at my local op shops, but haven't found any yet. Sounds like you have a fantastic collection!

Reading about the vintage sheet swap inspired me to look in my local op shops, but there was either nothing, or nothing that was even vaguely tempting (read tatty)in them. I'd love to have the chance to win some and see what I could do with them.

all this vintage sheeting is intriguing, i've been hearing so much about them over the swap ha ha.
have never actually made anything with vintage sheets, but i've started my own little opshopped stash, much to my boyfriends horror.

Great giveaway!!
I have yet to use my vintage sheets, but I want to make a vintage sheet quilt and just about any nice fabric I have (vintage sheets included) I always think: that would make a gorgeous cushion/tote/softie!!
I'd also like to do some applique with the vintage sheets too.

I hopped over from June at Noon to visit your creative space and saw vintage sheets!
Love.
I have used vintage sheets for quilting - blocks and backing. I also like to make bags and pouches and table runners, cause really you cannot beat the feel of vintage sheets. As my mom would say 'they just don't make em like that anymore'.

Oh this is a great give away!! I have used vintage sheets to make soft toys, bags, as linings and glued to cork sheeting to make coasters. The old florals of the 60's are so cute especially.

Hi Susan, thanks for letting me know about your amazing giveaway!! I love to make things with vintage sheets as you probably already know. I use them for my bunny ears & skirts and recently I made a huge, crazy rainbow snake. Yesterday I stitched together my fat 1/4s from the vintage sheet swap and made a bedspread. Love, love, love vintage sheets. I am now a follower too, I thought I already was but apparently not! Good luck with your giveaway, it's fantastic xo
