Flea market finds

I've been lucky in the flea market find department recently but none more exciting (or relevant for me at the moment) than the sheets I've been collecting for the Vintage Sheet Swap I signed up to over at Ange's Ramblings.

And this isn't the whole stash. I think I left a couple at my mother's place a couple of months ago because I couldn't bring them all back and one of the pair I bought yesterday is still drying.

I'm pretty excited because I've found lots of sheets I really like and a few I'm not sure I'll send ... and a little nervous because they have to be cut up and in the post by Friday 2 July 2010.

This lot are cute ... the bottom two are double sheets and amongst my favourites, although the pink two sheets above is probably my absolute favourite.

The thing that's making me nervous is tearing up the sheets but Ange posted a link over to my tiny robot heart to a great post detailing how to do it well. That's put my mind at rest a great deal and I'm planning to sit down tonight and plan how to cut up my first sheet. Nerve wracking but also exciting!

I'm not so sure about the bottom two and I probably won't be sending these. A bit too 80s I think.

The sheets I have are in all sorts of sizes ... from single bed all the way to queen size so I'm not sure how many fat quarters (Australian 50cm x 56cm size) I'll end up sending.

The bottom sheet is a lot like my favourite pink one ... and I have two in double bed size. Sometimes you can be so lucky!

In any event I ought to be able to send approx a dozen fat quarters in about ten different patterns. That's going to be a lot of gorgeous vintage sheet fat quarters to make a quilt.

PS For lots more flea market finds ... mosey on over to Sophie Isobel at Her Library Adventures. It's always a pleasure seeing how easy it is to live thriftily.

Wow, what a collection - when I first started op shopping I came across a couple of retro sheets that I didn't buy, not knowing what I could do with them, and have been searching in vain for them ever since!

your collection is looking great! I found the easiest way to FQ mine was to cut a piece of ribbon to the two sizes to measure out, didn't worry about mapping out the cuts as I was happy to have 'scraps' and definately rip like that blog says, hope this helps a bit :)

I'm doing the swap too, but I'm light on sheets at the moment! I'd better get my act together!
