VICTIM OF THE HARSH SUN
Of course we have a red car, but it's actually a happy accident because it happened to be the colour of the car we were looking at.
But that's not really the subject of this post ... today it's to show how powerful and unforgiving the sun has been this year to our car.
The bonnet of the car where the paint is starting to go.
At the beginning of the summer, only a few month's ago, the bonnet was clear and untarnished. Only a short time later the paintwork is wrecked! And it's not limited to the bonnet because parts of the side panels are also going the same way.
I'm not sure what we're going to go about this. The car is more than ten years old, valued around $5,000 and it could cost one-quarter of the value of the car to fix. On the other hand, the engine is sound, we hardly use it anyway so it costs us very little to run, and on a third train of thought, I'd love to have a smaller, more fuel efficient car.
As I said ... I don't know what we're going to do except it will have to wait until we get back from overseas.
