Good things: My Creative Space

It's been a wonderful week for creative stuff ... which I mentioned in passing yesterday in What's Hot & What's Not.

What I've mostly been working on is the Seaside Shawlette ... this has been knitting up really quickly despite having to unpick at least one row in four because I seem t be crap at counting stitches!

Doesn't it look strange ... all crinkly and weird?

At first I couldn't work out how it was ever going to look like a shawl, until I realised I'm knitting along the two tapering sides of a triangle ... if that makes sense.

This being the first time I've knitted lace, or a shawl for that matter, I have great hopes for the blocking process. I think it'll increase the size by two-thirds, and it will definitely smooth out all the crinkles and uneven tension.

In the end this has taken hardly any time at all ... and when I stretch out the pattern it looks so pretty.

PS Check out kootoyoo if you're looking for more creative spaces ... there are literally 100s.

Gosh I wouldn't have a clue how to make something like this let alone count stitches! Can't wait to see it finished. x

Visiting all the kootoyoo creative spaces and your knitting looks very cool actually - I like that texture. I have some balls of yarn and a pattern, but haven't started on a hat yet...sort of intimidated by the pattern!

The pattern looks very pretty, even in its crinkly, pre-blocking form. Love the texture. Good luck to you!

It is looking great! I love lacey knitting but just cannot get my head around it. Can't wait to see it finished and around your shoulders! :)

That's looking great. I'm also working on my first shawl. Cast on yesterday, was a bit of a headache to begin with, but now I have the pattern sorted and it's coming along nicely. Can't wait to see the finished shawl.

It looks great Susan and you will be amazed at the blocking stage:) If it gets too big to do on the straights I love knitting on circulars:) The colour is lovely.

What a stunning colour. But I have a stupid question for you, what's is a shawlette? Is it a small shawl? Either way it's going to be amazing when it's done.

Now I'm on tenterhooks! Bit of a sucker for the 'before' and 'after' of the whole blocking process thingy...
